MMTC Urea Tender Shows Higher Prices

The December 1 MMTC urea tender showed a marked increase in prices and a drop in the tonnage offered. The East Coast low came from Swiss Singapore at $286.50/mt CFR. The lowest West Coast price was from Dreymoor at $284.70/mt CFR. Only two producers offered tonnage directly, with PIC at the lower price of $282/mt FOB. These levels show an increase from the last tender when the landed price centered on $279/mt CFR for both coasts and $274/mt FOB from producers. Total tonnage offered was 2.3 million mt, compared to 3.6 million in the last tender. Within hours of opening the tender, MMTC accepted the low CFR and FOB prices, counterbidding at those levels.
