New Nutrien Ag UAN Storage Commissioned

Nutrien Ag Solutions has expanded its fertilizer business in Australia with the launch of a new liquid fertilizer Bulk N (UAN) storage facility at Kwinana in Western Australia (W.A.).

The long-term bulk storage and services agreement between Nutrien Ag Solutions and local W.A. company Coogee Chemicals (GM Dec. 11, 2020) has increased Nutrien’s liquid storage capacity in WA to 50,000 mt, complementing its granular fertilizer storage capacity of more than 200,000 mt across an additional five depot locations in W.A. The Bulk N facility was commissioned in June this year in preparation for the expected strong in-season demand.

“This increase in the supply and consistency of Bulk N in W.A. is about setting farmers up for success and reflects our confidence in the future growth of the industry here in Australia,” said Nutrien Ag Solutions Managing Director Rob Clayton.

“Agriculture has proved to be one of the shining lights during the recent supply chain pressures and COVID-19 restrictions over the past two years,” he continued. “There is enormous confidence in the agriculture sector, and we believe this is only going to continue to climb, and Nutrien Ag Solutions is well positioned to support our farmers through this growth.”

Nutrien Ag Solutions West Region Manager Andrew Duperouzel said Nutrien Ag Solutions is focused on making investments to safeguard growers in the face of global uncertainty.

“According to the latest forecast by the Grain Industry of Western Australia (GIWA), grain production is expected to reach around 20 million mt this year, one of the best years in recent times,” said Nutrien Ag Solutions West Region Manager Andrew Duperouzel. “This year will be a testament to the innovation of WA farmers – the early adoption of technology, sustainable practices, use of data and the application of high-quality advice from farm services has helped our growers produce a strong crop this winter, which has seen a big demand for fertilizer.”

CBH Group, Perth, also recently announced an expansion in UAN storage in W.A. (GM Sept. 10, p. 29). More UAN storage has been added in the U.K. with Brineflow Ltd. (GM Oct. 22, p. 33) and Omex Agriculture Ltd. (GM Oct. 8, p. 27).
