OCP Finalizes the Acquisition of 50% Stake in GlobalFeed SL; Capacity Increase Planned

OCP Group SA and Spanish fertilizer producer Fertinagro Biotech SL have jointly announced the completion on May 17 of the acquisition of 50% of GlobalFeed SL’s shares by OCP.

GlobalFeed, located in Spain, manufactures and distributes a wide range of products in the animal nutrition segment, including phosphate-based commodities and high-value feed solutions customized to different livestock species.

OCP and Fertinagro signed a definitive agreement last September for the Moroccan phosphates group to initially acquire 50% of GlobalFeed from Fertinagro, further expanding OCP’s ties to the Spanish fertilizer producer (GM Sept. 30, 2022).

OCP already owns a 20% stake in Fertinagro (GM Oct. 19, 2018) and has 50% stakes in two other joint ventures – Fertinagro OCP Organic Biosolutions (GM June 3, p. 28) and OCP Fertinagro Advanced Solutions (GM Jan 25, 2019), which produce NPKs, as well as products including inhibitors, biostimulants, and micronutrients.

Commenting on this week’s completion of the transaction, Marouane Ameziane, Managing Director for Specialty Products and Solutions at OCP Group, said: “This acquisition confirms OCP’s commitment to becoming a leading player in the animal nutrition sector.”

OCP now intends to increase GlobalFeed’s production capacity to 400,000 mt/y by 2027, “in order to serve the needs of our customers around the globe, with an offering that expands our portfolio to include – beyond DCP, MCP, and MDCP – premium products and customized solutions.”

GlobalFeed operates in the animal nutrition segment and manufactures and distributes a wide range of products, including phosphate-based commodities and solutions dedicated to several species. The company owns flexible production units with a current capacity of 200,000 mt of phosphate-based products and 30,000 mt of iron sulfate located in Huelva, Spain. It also has a large global sales footprint.
