Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan Inc.’s first quarter net income was $491 million ($.56 per diluted share) compared to the year-ago $732 million ($.84 per share). The company cited lower potash sales and production volumes, which resulted in higher costs. Sales dropped to $1.75 billion from the year-ago $2.2 billion.
