Eastern Cornbelt:
June phos acid postings in the Eastern Cornbelt continued to be reported at the $9.50/unit rail-DEL level, but an increase to $9.65/unit DEL is scheduled for July 1.
Western Cornbelt:
Phos acid was unchanged at $9.50/unit rail-DEL for June tons in the Western Cornbelt. An increase to $9.65/unit rail-DEL is slated for July.
Southern Plains:
Phos acid pricing remained at $9.50/unit rail-DEL in the Southern Plains for June tons, but a posted increase to $9.65/unit rail-DEL is scheduled for July 1.
Western US:
July phos acid pricing in California and the Pacific Northwest is scheduled to drop to $9.75/unit rail-DEL, down from June’s $14.00/unit DEL posting.
India:
India phos acid contracts were valued at $970/mt P2O5 CFR for the second quarter, an $80/mt decline from $1,050/mt P2O5 CFR in the prior period.
Eastern Cornbelt:
10-34-0 fill offers were reportedly on the table at the $450/st FOB level in Ohio in late June. No other programs or prices were confirmed during the week.
Western Cornbelt:
10-34-0 was steady at $655-$675/st FOB for the last confirmed prompt offers in the region. While fill offers at considerably lower levels were reported in the Eastern Cornbelt, no programs were confirmed in the Western Cornbelt during the week.
Southern Plains:
10-34-0 remained at $605-$630/st FOB in the Southern Plains for the last confirmed business, with the 11-37-0 market quoted in the low- to mid-$700s/st FOB in Texas.
US Gulf:
NOLA potash barges remained at $380-$400/st FOB for the last business, with midweek offers rumored at $265/st FOB but no confirmed trades at that level. The industry continues to await the launch of potash fill programs, now expected in early July.
Potash continued to fall, with terminal pricing pegged in the $395-$425/st FOB range in the Eastern Cornbelt, down from last week’s $420-$440/st FOB. The latest Cincinnati offers were confirmed at $405-$410/st FOB, below the last reported $420-$430/st FOB range.
Western Cornbelt:
Potash pricing dropped to $395-$425/st FOB in the Western Cornbelt, down from last week’s $400-$440/st FOB, with the low confirmed at St. Louis and the high in Iowa.
Southern Plains:
Potash fell to $415-$430/st FOB Catoosa/Inola and $450/st FOB Houston, down from the prior $430-$480/st FOB range.
South Central:
South Central potash pricing remained in the $440-$460/st FOB range in late June, with the high reported in Arkansas.
Southeast:
Potash pricing dropped to $425/st FOB Wilmington, down from the prior $440/st FOB level, with rail-DEL tons remaining at $465-$475/st in the Southeast for the last business.
India:
National Fertilizers Ltd. (NFL) issued a new tender for the supply of 100,000 mt of standard potash in two lots, after scrapping an earlier one for the same volume (GM June 16, p. 15).
The new tender closed on June 29. Some 50,000 mt of pink/red potash were required for east coast delivery and 50,000 mt of pink/red potash for west coast delivery. The tons were requested within 25 days from date of issue of LOI/PO, with the latest shipment by Aug. 8, one month later than under the June 10 tender.
Trade Data Monitor put January-April potash imports at 483,000 mt, down from 941,000 mt in the prior-year period. April imports fell 50%, to 124,000 mt from 245,000 mt in April 2022. Jordan supplied 51,000 mt, Israel sent 48,000 mt, and Canada added 25,000 mt.
China:
Sinofert Holdings, a unit of Sinochem Fertilizer Macao, has agreed to buy up to 132,000 mt of potash from Canpotex at $307/mt, for a total purchase price of $40.5 million, MT Newswires reported. The potash is likely to be shipped from Canada or the US to China between June and July, according to a June 28 filing.
Brazil:
The landed price edged up to $310-$330/mt CFR. While many believe the price floor was hit last week, others disagreed, pointing to large warehouse supplies and more still to come. The price rise, said some players, could be attributed to a temporary surge of demand that will reverse itself quickly, potentially leading to a deeper price drop.
Rondonopolis buyers saw prices increase to $425-$480/mt FOB ex-warehouse. The upward movement resulted from a number of buyers looking to cover immediate needs, some said. Farmers were described as watching the barter ratios for NPKs closely before deciding to move on potash purchases. There also appears to be a sense that prices will reverse, providing a better opportunity for buyers to grab some bargains in the near future.
Southeast Asia:
Traders in the area said buyers seem to be pushing for prices closer to $300/mt CFR. However, there are reports that some talks are also centering on $325-$350/mt CFR.
Potash imports to Thailand fell 55% in January-May, Trade Data Monitor reported,to 184,000 mt from the year-ago 411,000 mt. May imports were 49,000 mt, off 69% from 157,000 mt in May 2022. The month’s main suppliers were Laos with 20,000 mt, Canada with 18,000 mt, and Jordan with 8,000 mt.
Tampa:
Third-quarter Tampa molten contracts remained unsettled during the week. Market rumors focused on a possible $30-$40/lt drop from the second-quarter price of $103/lt CFR, with a settlement expected a few weeks into July.
US Gulf:
Market players reported prices in a $55-$60/mt FOB range, narrowing from last week’s $55-$65/mt FOB. Sources described the market as balanced.
Brazil:
Market players expect the next shipment to Brazil to arrive in the second half of August. Prices were estimated at $75-$85/mt CFR, a drop from the week-ago $80-90/mt CFR. One buyer is reportedly pushing for prices in the low $70s/mt CFR, while calculations based on current Arab Gulf values put prices in the $90s/mt CFR Brazil.
Vancouver:
Vancouver prices declined to $60-$70/mt FOB, sources said, off from $65-$70/mt FOB reported last.
Alberta:
Based on both molten sulfur cargoes contracted into the US market and prilled material sold internationally through the Vancouver export market, Alberta sulfur netbacks were estimated in a (-)$12-$33/mt range, steady from the prior report.
West Coast:
West Coast prills softened in line with Vancouver, to $60-$70/mt FOB.
Molten sulfur contracts for loading in the second quarter were reported at $98-$106/lt FOB, falling from $125-$135/lt FOB in the prior period.
China:
Prices at China continued to retract. Sources reported the market’s latest transactions around $80-$85/mt CFR, compared to $80-$90/mt CFR at last check.
ADNOC:
Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. (ADNOC) prilled sulfur contracts were reported at $65/mt FOB Ruwais for the third quarter. June postings were reported at $86/mt FOB. An updated price for July is expected soon.
Qatar:
Muntajat solid sulfur was posted at $63/mt FOB Ras Laffan for July, a 26.7% drop from $86/mt FOB in June.
US Gulf:
Citing a lack of both concluded trades and new demand, sources continued to estimate the US Gulf spot market at $55-$65/mt CFR.
Brazil:
The price range in Brazil remained at
$70-$75/mt CFR, with sources reporting a well-balanced market.
Chile:
A Capstone Copper tender seeking 30,000 mt to be shipped in January, February, and March of 2024 reportedly closed on June 21. Prices were rumored in the $80-$90/mt CFR range.
Eastern Cornbelt:
Ammonium thiosulfate pricing was pegged at $385-$390/st FOB in the Eastern Cornbelt in late June.
Western Cornbelt:
The ammonium thiosulfate market remained at $340-$370/st FOB in the Western Cornbelt, depending on location.
Southern Plains:
The latest ammonium thiosulfate prices ranged from $220-$250/st FOB in the Southern Plains, depending on location.
South Central:
The ammonium thiosulfate market was quoted at $335-$340/st FOB Memphis during the week, down $5/st from last report.
Cornbelt:
The NPSZ market was unchanged at $555-$595/st FOB in the Cornbelt, depending on location.

40-Rock prices in the Pacific Northwest dropped to $620/st FOB or DEL in late June, down from the prior $790/st level.
