Junior miner Michigan Potash & Salt Co. LLC and Barton Malow Co., a Michigan general contractor, announced March 5 that they have materially completed a definitive agreement for the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) of the Michigan Potash and Salt facility in Western Michigan.

Huber Engineered Materials, Atlanta, a specialty engineered materials company, reports that it has entered into a definitive agreement with Dunes Point Capital LP to acquire Miller Chemical & Fertilizer LLC, Hanover, Penn., which manufactures and distributes crop protection and nutritional agrichemical products.
Indian DAP Tenders Close at Lower Levels
Recent Indian DAP tenders closed at lower numbers, with RCF’s tender for 46,000 mt awarded to Aries at $410.69/mt CFR and 50,000 mt to Aries at $398.27/mt. A tender for NFL for 100,000 mt closed with Fertrade at $399.71/mt CFR.
Saudi’s Eye OCI Methanol Assets
Saudi Basic Industries Corp., the Middle East’s biggest petrochemicals maker, is exploring an acquisition of OCI NV’s methanol assets that would solidify its status as one of the world’s biggest producers of the chemical, people familiar with the matter have told Bloomberg. The Saudi Arabian company has made an initial approach that valued OCI’s assets, which include plants in Texas and the Netherlands, at as much as $4 billion, the people said, asking not to be identified because the discussions are private.

Teck Resources Ltd.’s Trail, B.C. fertilizer plant was reported to be back up Feb. 27 after an acid spill Feb. 26. The spill initially went into the Columbia River but was diverted to an onsite reservoir.

Wilbur-Ellis Co. LLC reports that it has acquired Nebraska retailer Wiles Brothers Fertilizer Inc. In business since 1976, Wiles expands the Wilbur-Ellis footprint in Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa.
Nutrien to Acquire Ruralco
Nutrien Ltd. announced Feb. 27 that it has entered into a binding agreement with Australia’s Ruralco Holdings Ltd. to acquire all the shares of Ruralco at a price of A$4.40 per share.
Mosaic Upbeat for Spring, Year
Mosaic told analysts Feb. 26 that potash producers will have to run at record rates in 2019 and that global potash and phosphate supply and demand is balanced. The company said the spring season will make up for lost fall fertilizer applications.
