Ukrainian ammonia producer Stirol confirmed that five are dead and some 22 were sent to the hospital after an ammonia leak Aug. 6 during a planned turnaround at its Number 1 plant. Stirol said that according to preliminary data, there was a loss of containment in a liquid ammonia pipeline. It said the problem was resolved within 30 minutes.
