PhosAgro Plans to Double Fertilizer Supplies to Africa

The PhosAgro Group plans to increase its supply of fertilizers to African countries to more than 1 million mt in the next five years, according to an Itar Tass (Russia) report this week, citing PhosAgro CEO Andrey Guryev.

According to Guryev, the group since 2016 has doubled its fertilizer supplies to African countries to 570,000 mt.

In the next five years, PhosAgro expects to at least double its sales to the continent, the report cited the CEO as saying.

The Russian fertilizer group views Africa as “a priority area” for international development, and sees “huge potential” for growth in the consumption and production of fertilizers there.

The group said it currently supplies its products to 21 countries on the African continent and is actively working to expand its presence, and plans to develop such areas as fertilizer distribution and scientific and technical cooperation, according to the report.
