Phosphoric Acid

U.S. Exports:

Wet-process phosphoric acid exports for the July-December fertilizer year-to-date were off 35.5 percent, at 102,726 st versus 159,231 st for the prior year. Exports softened 86.7 percent in December, to 5,497 st from 41,452 st.

Eastern Cornbelt:

Phos acid remained at $12.95-$13.05/unit rail-DEL in the Eastern Cornbelt for February tons, up $1.50/unit from January.

Western Cornbelt:

Phos acid was quoted at $12.85/unit rail-DEL in Nebraska, Missouri, and Iowa for February tons. Nutrien announced that new pricing for super phosphoric acid will firm to $1,250/st of P2O5 on March 1, up from the last reported $920/st of P2O5 level. The company said a similar increase will be applied across all of Nutrien’s liquid phosphate products, including ammonium polyphosphate.

Northern Plains:

The phos acid market was quoted at $12.95/unit rail-DEL in Minnesota and $13.05/unit rail-DEL in the Dakotas for February tons, up $1.50/unit from January.

India:

North American phosphoric acid suppliers matched OCP’s recent settlement with buyers in India, agreeing to a first-quarter price of $795/mt CFR India. Contracts were quoted at $689/mt CFR in fourth-quarter 2020, a $106/mt increase.
