India:

Indian buyers and OCP settled on a fourth-quarter phos acid price of $1,330/mt CFR with 30 days credit. This represents a jump of $170/mt from the third-quarter price.

Sources said the price is lower than the $1,550/mt CFR that had been circulating earlier in the week. Even at that level, however, Indian DAP producers will still have difficulty turning out DAP without losing money, thus forcing India to buy the finished product instead. With China out of the phosphate export business, OCP remains the main supplier for large quantities.

Suppliers located in North America did not confirm updated contracts with buyers before press time on Oct. 29, temporarily leaving the India phos acid price in a $1,160-$1,330/mt P2O5 CFR range.
