Potash Train Derails Near Hope, B.C.

A train carrying potash derailed near Hope, British Colombia, early Monday morning, but no injuries were reported after at least 60 railcars came off the rails, Canadian Press reported, citing CN Rail.

CN said preliminary information indicated the cars derailed off a bridge, and containment booms had been put in place where some potash spilled into the water.

According to the report, citing Hope’s mayor, Peter Robb, the train included approximately 200 railcars, and of the 60 that derailed, 20 were open and spilled.
