CF Announces Higher UAN Prices

CF on March 4 released limited new UAN-32 prices that show a roughly $90/st increase from the company’s early February postings. New offers for spring tons reportedly include $300/st ($9.38/unit) FOB Yazoo City, Miss.; $325/st ($10.16/unit) FOB St. Louis, Mo., and Mount Vernon, Ind.; $327/st ($10.22/unit) FOB Cincinnati, Ohio; $340/st ($10.63/unit) FOB Garner, Iowa; and $345/st ($10.78/unit) FOB Hastings, Neb. CF had earlier withdrew prices in the wake of the February production issues caused by cold weather and high natural gas prices.

Nutrien Cuts Jobs in Saskatchewan

Nutrien Ltd. has cut jobs in Saskatchewan, according to the Regina Leader-Post. In the statement to the newspaper, Potash CEO Ken Seitz said the company “identified a need to drive efficiencies in (its) finance department to remain competitive,” and the changes will affect other operations in North America. He put the number of cuts as under 50.

Chinese Increase Urea Supply Along with Export Potential

Natural gas price pressures on China’s urea producers are easing from highs induced by the recent cold snap, while operating rates are recovering on increased LNG supply and are at a five-year high in March at 75.7 percent, according to Green Markets Director of Research Alexis Maxwell. She said China’s port inventory is rising in response to higher rates, which portends more exports from the world’s marginal producer.

CF Hikes Ammonia Postings

CF announced higher ammonia postings on March 3. Reference prices for March-June range from $570-$650/st FOB terminals in Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa, and Minnesota, with the Velva, N.D,. terminal reposted at $675/st FOB.

Those prices reflect new levels since CF pulled offers in February due to weather-related plant outages, and are up significantly from previous postings in the $470-$550/st FOB range for spring tons in the Cornbelt and Northern Plains regions. CF continues to offer no new pricing at Verdigris and Woodward, Okla.
