Compass Minerals said today that preliminary
first-quarter sales volumes indicate strong demand, with North American
fertilizer sales up 68 percent to 96,000 st over year-ago figures. Plant Nutrition South America sales volumes
totaled approximately 158,000 tons, including 68,000 tons of agriculture sales
and 90,000 tons of chemical solutions sales, an increase of 31 percent and 10
percent, respectively from 2019 first-quarter results.
More details of the RCF tender that closed March 30 were released Monday morning, April 6. The awards to nine companies, including producer Muntajat, come to 800,000 mt. The agreed-to prices are $251.90/mt CFR for the West Coast, $257.65/mt CFR for the East Coast and $239.40/mt FOB from Muntajat. The bulk of the awards – 710,000 mt – will go to the East Coast, leaving sources to speculate the bulk of the material will be from China. The ship-by deadline is May 5.
