Nutrien to Boost Potash Production

Nutrien Ltd., Saskatoon, reports that it expects to increase potash production by approximately 500,000 mt in the second half of 2021 compared to earlier expectations, in response to tightening global potash market conditions. The news comes soon after Mosaic announced it expects a 1 million mt near term short fall after closing its K1 and K2 shafts.

Dangote Announces Start Of Commercial Urea Production

Nigeria’s Dangote Fertiliser Ltd. this weekend announced the formal start of production of granular urea “in commercial quantities”, and plans to supply product to the Nigerian market today, according to local media reports, citing the company. 

This phase 1 of the plant at the Lekki Free Trade Zone, about 50 km east of Central Lagos, has nameplate capacity to produce 3 million mt/y of granular urea, as well as ammonia.

Trafigura, Yara Ink MoU To Explore Opportunities For Joint Business In Clean Ammonia

Yara International ASA, Oslo, and Trafigura Pte Ltd., Singapore, jointly announced they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the development and promotion of the use of ammonia as a clean fuel in shipping and to explore possible opportunities to work together on certain clean (green and blue) ammonia fuel infrastructure and market opportunities. 

Under the MoU, the two companies said they intend to collaborate on the supply of clean ammonia by Yara to Trafigura Group companies, and also to explore joint R&D initiatives for clean ammonia application as a marine fuel. They also plan to explore the development of new clean ammonia assets, including marine fuel infrastructure and market opportunities.
