Sulfuric Acid

U.S. Gulf:

Market watchers continued to describe Gulf import price ideas in the $80-$85/mt CFR range, unmoved from the prior report.

U.S. Imports:

Sulfuric acid imports firmed 28.2 percent in July-December 2020, to 2.09 million st from 1.63 million in 2019. December imports stood at 331,546 st, rising 7.1 percent year-over-year from 309,571 st.

U.S. Exports:

December sulfuric acid exports were noted at 9,565 st, off 65.4 percent from the prior year’s 27,621 st total. July-December volumes totaled 101,959 st, falling 18.0 percent from 124,266 st in 2019.

Gulf Coast:

Gulf Coast delivered sulfuric acid contracts landed in the $85-$110/st DEL range for 2021. The Lower Atlantic market was heard in a general $90-$110/st DEL range.

Midwest:

Material delivered to the Midwest ran even with the Gulf at $85-$110/st DEL, sources said.

West Coast:

West Coast contracts were quoted in the $100-$130/st DEL range for 2021 agreements, below $110-$150/st DEL in 2020.

Brazil:

Cargoes destined for Brazil were heard priced at $85-$90/mt CFR, unchanged from one week earlier.
