Sulfuric Acid

US Gulf:

There were no changes reported in the US Gulf. Price ideas were estimated around $65-$80/mt CFR, depending on specification. A production facility in Houston is back online, sources said, while a Baton Rouge facility was noted halting production. Sources reported a general feeling of balance in the market.

US Imports:

Sulfuric acid imports fell 3.3% for July-March, to 2.56 million st from 2.64 million st in the prior-year period. Imports moved 28.2% lower in March, to 259,602 st from the year-ago 361,369 st.

US Exports:

Sulfuric acid exports for March softened 13.7% year-over-year, to 20,618 st from 23,905 st. July-March shipments were 246.1% higher, however, at 812,370 st compared to 234,726 st in the year-ago period.

Brazil:

Multiple market players reported price ideas in Brazil around $70-$80/mt CFR, but with no new demand in sight due to reports of issues with receiver tanks. The situation will likely remain the same for June and July, with contracted cargoes needing to be diverted to other destinations due to the logistics issues.
