Peru, Ill.-Carus Phosphates Inc., a unit of Carus Phosphates Inc., has acquired the business and assets of CalciQuest, Inc. of Belmont, NC, a manufacturer and marketer of phosphate chemicals for the municipal market in the US. In the deal, Carus will also receive a polymer product line that it says will complement its existing core business of phosphates. “We believe that this acquisition will position Carus Corp. as the premier provider of chemicals used in the drinking water industry,” said Bill Mersch, Carus Phosphates general manager. Carus buys phosphate and potash from major producers for use in its chemical markets.
