Fertilizer sales up 14 percent at Itronics

Reno, Nev.-Itronics Inc., which produces GOLD’n GRO fertilizer from photo chemical waste, reported a 14 percent increase in fertilizer sales for the second quarter ending June 30, 2007. Sales were $752,694, up from the year-ago $660,206. First half fertilizer sales were $1.2 million, up from $900.3 million. Itronics said that liquid photowaste volumes during the quarter increased nearly 500 percent to provide additional fertilizer raw material. Efforts to bring GOLD’n GRO Guardian deer repellant to market moved ahead with a long-term supply arrangement with a foreign manufacturer of the repelling ingredient. Itronics expects to continue steady expansion of GOLD’n GRO liquid fertilizer sales and photowaste service customers to support its five-year plan for business growth. Itronics said results at its silver business were lower than expected due to repeated damage to its refining furnaces from electrical power surges. It is working with its power supplier to correct the problem. Company-wide, Itronics reported a second-quarter loss of $1.2 million on total sales of $849,065, versus the year-ago income of $273,947 and sales of $768,023, respectively. First-half losses were $1.7 million on sales of $1.4 million, versus the year-ago loss of $5,249 and sales of $1.1 million, respectively.
