BEST charged with violating Canada’s Fertilizer Act

Calgary-On March 17, 2008, Basic Environmental Systems and Technology Inc. (BEST) of Sherwood Park, Alberta, entered a guilty plea in Alberta Provincial Court in Edmonton to one count of violating Section 3 of the Fertilizer Act. The company was fined $10,000. During a routine on-farm inspection in 2005, a Canadian Food Inspection Agency inspector discovered a soil supplement manufactured by BEST that had not been registered or labeled as required.
