Athabasca gives update, expands drilling

Saskatoon-Athabasca Potash Inc. says it recently completed drilling four potash test wells to the north and northeast of the central area of the Burr Project in Saskatchewan. “These preliminary drilling and geophysical results are very encouraging to us as we actively advance the project,” said Dawn Zhou, president and CEO. Detailed results from these four test wells will be included in an updated resource estimate, which is expected to be available in the coming weeks. Five additional test wells were completed in 2007. Given the new technical data acquired in the past nine months and with the availability of drilling rigs, the company has decided to expand the 2008 drilling program from six potash test wells to nine. Athabasca is in the process of applying for drilling licenses to drill five more wells that are expected to be completed by the end of November. Athabasca, a Canada-based corporation, was founded with the goal of establishing itself as a pre-eminent Canadian public company engaged solely in potash exploration and development, thus providing its shareholders with a unique investment opportunity focused entirely on potash.
