Spring Valley building new headquarters

Jackson, Wisc.-Officials at Spring Valley, a manufacturer of turf fertilizers and ice melt products, say their new environmentally friendly headquarters now under construction here is the result of the steady growth of their professional lawn, golf course, landscape, nursery/greenhouse, and sports turf business, which has extended into the Pacific Rim markets, including the Philippines and South Korea. Spring Valley CEO Bill Vogel said offices for a staff of 20 to 25 employees, now split between two locations, will be combined into the new single-story building, to be completed this spring. Vogel said the structure will be green in several ways, using solar tubes, a lot of windows, and a raised roof with glass all around to bring in natural light. The office area will also have recyclable carpet, which can be turned into the supplier and replaced every four or five years, and long-lasting cement-coated lumber for siding. A large conference room is being included to accommodate customers. Vogel said Spring Valley business, which turns 50 years old next year, has grown 10 to 20 percent per year in last six to eight years. “We had a very strong year this past year, and we’re looking for the same growth this year servicing the lawn care and landscape industry and the professional and golf course segments, along with a healthy dose of retail,” Vogel reported. In addition, he noted, the ice melt product, which started as a sideline, has turned into a huge market that fills in the winter gap.
