Innophos says DOJ closes STPP investigation

Cranbury, N.J.-Innophos Holdings Inc. reported late last year that it has received notification from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Antitrust Division that the DOJ was announcing the previously disclosed grand jury investigation of Innophos’s sodium tripolyphosphate (STPP) business was closed, and that the company was no longer required to maintain documents pursuant to the subpoena. Innophos was served with a subpoena in 2007 to produce documents for a DOJ investigation being conducted into what it termed “potential antitrust violations” in the STPP industry, focusing on the period from 2002 through 2005. Since that announcement Innophos says it has cooperated fully in the investigation, and earlier in 2008 the company delivered what it considered substantially all responsive materials to the DOJ.
