Johannesburg-Sasol Nitro, a division of Sasol Chemical Industries Ltd., will pay an administrative penalty to South Africa’s Competition Commission in the amount of R$188 million (US$22.4 million). This relates to Sasol’s fertilizer and phosphoric acid businesses. Complaints of fertilizer collusive conduct were brought up by Nutri-Flo and Profert. The phos acid complaint related to Sasol’s agreement with Foskor, which was concluded to ensure the continued viability of Sasol’s Phalaborwa phos acid operations.
