Sylvite reports that James (Jim) Brown will rejoin his original company and dedicate his efforts to both Sylvite Sales (USA) and Sylco Service and Terminal, Lewistown, Penn., effective immediately. He will continue to support the operation of Sylvite’s logistics, warehousing, and wholesaling. Brown created Sylvite in 1989. Sylvite USA has been a successful venture since its inception, marketing leading-edge technologies such as liquid and dry controlled-release products. It expects to expand with additional products in the future, such as specialty fertilizers screened to customer specifications.
The Andersons Inc. recently announced that Stephen Eberly has been named eastern regional sales manager of the Plant Nutrient Group. In his new position, Eberly is responsible for the eastern sales territories, and he continues his role as head of the group’s transportation effort. He reports to Jan Finch, director of U.S. Sales.
Prior to his most recent appointment, Eberly served as product manager for dry phosphates for the past 20 years. A replacement for his former position has not been named.
Agrico Canada Ltd./Ltée has appointed Martin Kiefer to the position of Eastern Canadian wholesale manager, effective Feb. 1. He fills a vacancy left by Scott Furtney, who moved to a supply and distribution position with the company.
Kiefer lives in Simcoe, Ont., and has over 15 years experience in the crop inputs sector. He has a B.S. in Agriculture from the University of Guelph and is a certified crop advisor. Kiefer will report to Murray Martin, Agrico senior vice president of operations.
Shareholders of The Scotts Miracle-Gro Co. have elected Adam Hanft to its board of directors, effective immediately. Shareholders also re-elected three members of the company’s board for a term that expires in 2013. Hanft is the founder and CEO of Hanft Unlimited Inc., a New York-based marketing organization. Over the past six years, he has served as a member of the company’s innovation and technology advisory board, which provides strategic counseling regarding research and development efforts. He was nominated for election due to the retirement of board member Patrick Norton.
Re-elected to the board were Mark Baker, president and chief operating officer of ScottsMiracle-Gro; Joseph Flannery, former president and CEO of Uniroyal Holding Inc.; and Katherine Hagedorn Littlefield, chair of Hagedorn Partnership L.P.
