SSP

Brazil:

Imported SSP 19-21 pricing was stable in the $200-$220/mt CFR range at Brazil. Due to the decline in soybean prices, market players have largely paused phosphate negotiations for the moment, sources said.

While prices for SSP 19-21 continued in the $320-$345/mt FOB ex-warehouse range at Rondonópolis, SSP-23 values fell slightly, to $365-$375/mt FOB ex-warehouse from $370-$375/mt FOB at last report.

Phosphoric Acid

Eastern Cornbelt:

January phosphoric acid postings were steady at $11.90/unit rail-DEL in the Eastern Cornbelt. Postings firmed $0.25/unit on Feb. 1, however, to $12.15/unit rail-DEL in the region.

Western Cornbelt:

The phos acid market strengthened on Feb. 1 to $12.15/unit rail-DEL in the Western Cornbelt, up from $11.90/unit rail-DEL in January.

Southern Plains:

The phos acid market was reported at $11.90/unit rail-DEL for January tons in the Southern Plains, but a $0.25/unit increase on Feb. 1 pushed the list price to $12.15/unit rail-DEL in the region.

Western US:

February pricing for phos acid was quoted at $12.25/unit rail-DEL in California and the Pacific Northwest, up $0.25/unit from January. Postings at Pocatello, Idaho, firmed on Feb. 1 to $11.75/unit FOB, up from $11.50/unit in January, with MGA reference pricing in California strengthening to $12.45/unit FOB Lathrop.

Ammonium Polyphosphate

Eastern Cornbelt:

10-34-0 remained at $525-$545/st FOB in the Eastern Cornbelt, with the low for prompt tons and the high for prepay.

Western Cornbelt:

10-34-0 was steady at $520-$550/st FOB in the Western Cornbelt, depending on location and time of shipment, with the high reported in Iowa.

Southern Plains:

10-34-0 firmed to $515-$535/st FOB in the Southern Plains, with the 11-37-0 market quoted at $565-$575/st FOB in Texas.

Muriate of Potash

US Gulf:

The NOLA potash barge market was down slightly, falling to $315-$320/st FOB for the latest trades, off from last week’s $315-$325/st FOB range.

Eastern Cornbelt:

Potash was steady at $365-$395/st FOB in the Eastern Cornbelt, depending on location, grade, and time of shipment. The Cincinnati market remained at the $375-$380/st FOB level for prompt tons.

Western Cornbelt:

Potash pricing was quoted at $365-$390/st FOB in the Western Cornbelt, with the St. Louis market pegged at $365-$375/st FOB.

Southern Plains:

Potash slipped to $370-$380/st FOB Catoosa/Inola and Houston for prompt offers, down some $15/st from early January. The last postings FOB Carlsbad, N.M., remaining at $445/st for 60% white granular and $453/st for 62% white standard.

South Central:

Potash slipped to $370-$385/st FOB warehouses in the South Central region, down $5/st from last report, depending on location.

Southeast:

Potash remained at $350-$370/st FOB port terminals in the Southeast, with the range’s upper level also reported for recent rail-DEL business in the Carolinas.

India: 

Trade Data Monitor reported January-November potash imports at 2.7 million mt, a 16% increase from the 2.6 million mt received through the same period of 2022. Canada sent about 1 million mt, followed by Russia with 896,000 mt and 417,000 mt from Jordan.

Imports were reported at 297,000 mt for November, rising approximately 50% from 198,000 mt in November 2022.

Thailand:      

2023 potash imports to Thailand totaled 710,000 mt, Trade Data Monitor reported, down slightly from the year-ago 736,000 mt. Canadian product accounted for 235,000 mt, while Laos added 134,000 mt. December imports stood at 88,000 mt, a significant increase from the 24,000 mt received in the prior December.

Brazil:

Imported potash prices continued at the week-ago $285-$300/mt CFR level. Inland deals were widely reported at a significant discount to the CFR market.

Rondonópolis prices fell $25/mt at the upper end range, to $405-$415/mt FOB ex-warehouse from the prior $440/mt FOB high. Bearish sentiment remains strong, sources reported, with spot discussions rumored as low as $395/mt FOB.

Nigeria

Russian producer Uralchem has shipped a 34,000 mt cargo of potash to Nigeria’s Onne port, according to news agency TASS. In total, the producer has shipped 134,000 mt of fertilizer to several African countries including Malawi, Kenya, and Zimbabwe in partnership with the UN’s World Food Programme.

Sulfur

Tampa:

First-quarter Tampa molten sulfur contracts settled at $69/lt CFR, a $33/lt drop from $102/lt CFR in the prior quarter.

US Gulf:

US Gulf sulfur pricing remained in the $60-$65/mt FOB range. Players continued to report length in the market due to ongoing fertilizer production issues.

Brazil:

Brazil prill imports continued at $91-$95/mt CFR for the last reported business.

Vancouver:   

Vancouver solid sulfur pricing was unchanged at the week-ago $62-$66/mt FOB level.

Alberta:

Alberta netback estimates were steady at (-)$46-(-)$1/mt FOB. The range included molten sulfur cargoes contracted into the US market and prilled tons exported through the Vancouver market.

West Coast:

Solid sulfur loading from the West Coast was priced in step with Vancouver at $62-$66/mt FOB. Molten sulfur contracts were reported at $50-$55/lt FOB for the first quarter.

China:

Sources pegged China import prices at $90-$95/mt CFR, unmoved from the prior report.

ADNOC:

Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. (ADNOC) solid sulfur postings for January were noted at $77/mt FOB Ruwais, down 11.5% from $87/mt FOB in December.

Qatar:

Sources noted January Muntajat prices at $74/mt FOB Ras Laffan, off 12.9% from December’s $85/mt FOB offer.

Ammonium Thiosulfate

Eastern Cornbelt:

The ammonium thiosulfate market was unchanged at $255-$270/st FOB in the Eastern Cornbelt, with the low confirmed at Cincinnati and the high at Terre Haute, Ind.

Western Cornbelt:

Ammonium thiosulfate remained at $250-$260/st FOB in the Western Cornbelt, with the low reported at Waterloo, Iowa.

Southern Plains:

The ammonium thiosulfate market dropped to $185-$220/st FOB in the Southern Plains, depending on location, with the low confirmed at Houston.

South Central:

Ammonium thiosulfate pricing was unchanged at $250-$255/st FOB Memphis.
