Memphis-CHS Inc. is upgrading its President Island crop nutrients distribution center in Memphis, and is seeking a $3.9 million permit to make the improvements. CHS says the upgrade will bring faster, more efficient loading. CHS expects to replace 1,450 feet of conveyors to rework the traffic flow, as well as install a scale and additional safety equipment. Barge unloading time is expected to be improved from the current 200 tons of crop nutrients per hour to 450 tons per hour. CHS also expects faster truck turnaround. The work is expected to take three-to-four months. The facility was formerly a part of Agriliance LLC.
