Saskatoon-A fire broke out in a co-generation station next to PotashCorp’s Cory potash mine just outside of Saskatoon on June 7. Company officials said a transformer caught fire at 7:15 p.m. PotashCorp crews and the city fire department had the blaze extinguished by 8 p.m., with no injuries and minimal damage reported. Company officials said the cause of the fire was being investigated, and there was no stoppage to mining activities at the site as a result of the fire.
