Cranbury, N.J.-Specialty phosphate maker Innophos Holdings Inc. said Feb. 3 that it is expanding production capacity. At its Chicago Heights, Ill., facility, it plans a 25 percent increase in tri-calcium phosphate capacity, which is used throughout the food industry and has seen significant increase in demand, particularly in the beverage and dairy segments. The expansion is expected to be completed by mid-year 2011. Innophos confirmed that its previously announced expansion of CAL-RISE® capacity at its Nashville, Tenn., facility is on schedule to be completed in July of this year. This will provide a 50 percent increase in the capacity for mono-calcium products V-90 and Regent 12XX. These products are calcium leavening agents used by the baking industry. At its Port Maitland, Ont., facility, the company announced the completion of an expansion for the production of potassium phosphates. These products go to the meat and dairy industries and also have applications in industrial markets, including water treatment and industrial cleaners.
