Kassel, Germany-K+S Group reported a tenfold increase in earnings before income taxes (EBIT) for the third quarter ending Sept. 30, 2010, to E108.5 million on sales of E1.06 billion, up from the year-ago E9.4 million on sales of E698.1 million. Potash and magnesium earnings were up 47 percent, to E79.4 million from the year-ago E54 million. Nitrogen results made it into the plus column at E2.6 million from the year-ago loss of E47.3 million. K+S nine-month EBIT was E531.7 million on sales of E3.65 billion, up from the year-ago E201.5 million on sales of E2.5 billion. K+S is raising its EBIT forecast for the year to E630-E670 million from the previous forecast of E550-E600 million. 2009 EBIT was E238 million. It sees a significant EBIT increase in 2011.
