Arden Hills, Minn.-Land O’Lakes Inc. reported net earnings of $104.4 million on sales of $2.0 billion for the second quarter ending June 30, 2007, up from the year-ago $34.7 million and $1.69 billion, respectively. Six-month net income was $159.4 million on sales of $4.2 billion, versus the year-ago $60.9 million and $3.7 billion, respectively. LOL said second-quarter agronomy earnings, which it conducts through Agriliance LLC, totaled $53.1 million, as compared to the year-ago $38.4 million. Six-month agronomy operations contributed $55.3 million in pretax earnings, versus the year-ago $32 million. First-half crop nutrient volumes were up 5 percent, while sales were up 6 percent.
