Jalamid, Saudi Arabia-Ma’aden Phosphate Co. (MPC) has begun experimental operations of its mine and benefication plant at Jalamid, according to local media. Actual production is not slated until fourth quarter 2010. Phase 1 is expected to reach a capacity of 2.9 million mt/y of DAP, with Phase 2 expected to more than double capacity. MPC is a joint venture of Saudi Arabian Mining Co. and Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (Sabic).
