Management Briefs

The J.R. Simplot AgriBusiness Group has promoted two individuals, reflecting a realignment of its wholesale marketing group.

Mark Auchampach has been named vice president, wholesale sales. He will lead the sales function for all wholesale agriculture fertilizer business for the company.

Jeff Roesler has been named vice president of supply chain and specialty business units. In this newly created role, he will continue to oversee logistics and planning operations, and will assume leadership for marketing specialty products.

Garrett Lofto, president of the Simplot AgriBusiness Group, said the realignment will enable the company to align talents within the company to their overall business needs and opportunities. “Mark brings a wealth of sales and management experience to his new role and will provide valuable insights on the wholesale agriculture marketplace as we look at new opportunities and strategies,” he said.

Lofto said Roesler’s operational experience, combined with his solid financial and analytical background, will be critical as he assumes responsibility of the specialty business unit, which is comprised of industrial and feed products, Jacklin Seed, Simplot Partners, and professional turf products. “I have the utmost confidence Jeff will provide great leadership to this diverse and ever-changing business segment as it adapts to a challenging global marketplace,” he said.

Auchampach joined Simplot in 2008 as director, central region sales. Previous to his Simplot career, he was vice president of sales for a computer manufacturer. He is a native of Boise, Idaho, and graduated from Willamette University in Salem, Ore., with a B.A. degree in business economics.

Roesler joined the company in 1990 as a credit analyst. He most recently worked as vice president, logistics and planning, for the Simplot AgriBusiness Group. The Andersons Inc. has named Daniel Anderson as president of the retail group and vice president, corporate operations services. He is retaining his current position as retail group president and is assuming a new corporate-level position, which was created in part due to the retirement of Dale Fallat, vice president, corporate services, who is ending his 42-year tenure with the company.

Anderson has been with the company since 1979. He holds a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University, Columbus, and an honorary doctorate degree from Heidelberg College, Tiffin, Ohio.

In a related move, Tamara S. Sparks has assumed an expanded role as vice president, corporate relations & business analysis, adding corporate communications, community involvement, and enterprise risk management to her responsibilities.

Bente G. H. Slaatten will become Yara International’s new head of communications, replacing Arne Cartridge, who leaves on Oct. 1, 2009. Cartridge is leaving to pursue a personal ambition to develop an international network of consultants within communications and public affairs. He has been responsible for the development of communications and branding at Yara since its IPO more than five years ago.

To allow for continuity, Cartridge will support Yara’s Africa initiative as a consultant.

Slaatten will also replace Cartridge on the executive management team as of Oct. 1. She will be responsible for all communications, including the areas of public affairs and branding. Slaatten joined Yara in 2007 as vice president of communications.
