Mayo announces deal, new storage for Port Manatee

Mayo, Fla.-Mayo Fertilizer Inc. said July 24 that it has signed a long-term agreement to store and distribute fertilizer products at Port Manatee, Fla. Product will be received by vessel or rail and distributed by rail and truck. As part of the agreement, HRK Holdings LLC, a Florida-based holding company, will be constructing new storage facilities and making improvements to their existing rail yard. The facility will be designed to store 40,000 tons of fertilizer products. Mayo said the project represents the first development in Port Manatee’s newly-created Economic Encouragement Zone and is anticipated to generate significant throughput business for many companies, including Port Manatee and CSX railroad. HRK plans to break ground in mid-September in hopes of having the facility ready for the 2010 spring season.
