Pocatello-The J.R. Simplot Co. is one of two Idaho companies getting a $350,000 U.S. Department of Energy grant from the Idaho Office of Energy Resources to help make energy efficiency improvements at its Pocatello plant and three of its other Idaho sites. Simplot contributed matching funds to leverage the grant, which will be used to complete projects identified through state assessments. The projects are estimated to save more than 55,783 million BTUs of natural gas and 7.56 million kilowatt-hours of electrical energy, with savings comparable to the energy used by 56,000 Idaho homes.
