Ammonium Polyphosphate

Eastern Cornbelt:

10-34-0 remained at $495-$505/st FOB in the Eastern Cornbelt in early November.

Western Cornbelt:

10-34-0 was pegged at $485-$500/st FOB in the Western Cornbelt, with the low confirmed in Iowa.

California:

The November phos acid increase pushed ammonium polyphosphate prices higher in California. 10-34-0 jumped to $528-$533/st FOB in the state, up from the prior month’s $511-$516/st FOB range. The 11-37-0 market was quoted at $575-$580/st FOB for November, up from $556-$561/st FOB in October.

Pacific Northwest:

10-34-0 pricing in the Pacific Northwest firmed to $520/st FOB for November, up from last month’s $485-$495/st FOB range. 11-37-0 was quoted at $565/st FOB in the region and $555/st DEL in Idaho and Utah, above October’s $525/st FOB level.

Western Canada:

10-34-0 pricing in Western Canada climbed to C$850-$855/mt DEL for new offers, up from the prior C$810-$825/mt level.

Muriate of Potash

US Gulf:

The NOLA potash market slipped to $335-$345/st FOB for November-December business, down from last week’s $340-$350/st FOB range.

Eastern Cornbelt:

Potash was reported at $400-$420/st FOB in the Eastern Cornbelt, with the Cincinnati market quoted at the $405-$415/st FOB level in early November.

Western Cornbelt:

Potash prices widened to $390-$415/st FOB in the Western Cornbelt, with the St. Louis market pegged in the $390-$405/st FOB range, down slightly from last week’s $405-$410/st FOB.

California:

The potash market was up $20/st, to $530-$553/st FOB or DEL in California, depending on grade and location.

Pacific Northwest:

Potash was quoted at $475-$508/st FOB or DEL in Pacific Northwest, with the high reflecting reference pricing for 62% MOP. The last postings from Intrepid FOB Moab and Wendover, Utah, included $435/st FOB for 60% white standard and $440/st for 60% white granular.

Western Canada:

Potash truck pricing in Western Canada reportedly jumped to C$575-$585/mt FOB Saskatchewan mines for November-December tons, depending on grade, up from C$545-$555/mt FOB in October.

Brazil:

Potash pricing in Brazil narrowed to $330-$345/mt CFR, a shift from $320-$350/mt CFR in the previous week, with product from sanctioned origins pegged at the bottom of the range.

Rondonópolis prices were reported at $470/mt FOB ex-warehouse, narrowing from the previous week’s $460-$480/mt FOB, with few negotiations for prompt deliveries reportedly underway. Large-volume talks reported one week earlier were noted pressuring negotiations for the 2024/25 soybean season to the $460/mt FOB ex-warehouse level.

January-October potash imports firmed year-over-year, according to Trade Data Monitor, to 11 million mtfrom the 10.8 million mt received through the same period of 2022. Canada sent 4.3 million mt, and Russia sent 3.4 million mt.

Imports totaled 1.3 million mt in October, up significantly from 668,000 mt in October 2022. Canada and Russia combined for 61% of the October tonnage, while Uzbekistan, a new source for Brazil, shipped 185,000 mt.

Sulfur

Tampa:

Fourth-quarter Tampa molten sulfur contracts were valued at $102/lt CFR, an 85% increase from $55/lt CFR in the third quarter.

US Gulf:

The US Gulf market retracted $10/mt, to $90-$95/mt FOB from the week-ago $100-$105/mt FOB, as players remain focused on 2024 contract negotiations.

Brazil:

A round of purchases in Brazil saw prices move to $116.50-$120/mt CFR, down from $116.50-$123/mt CFR in the prior report.

Vancouver:   

Vancouver spot prill quotes remained at $80-$90/mt FOB for the week. The market is reportedly focused on China’s new export restrictions and how they might impact sulfur demand.

Alberta:

Alberta sulfur prices were unchanged at (-)$13-$30/mt FOB. Molten sulfur cargoes contracted into the US market established the low side of the range, while solid tons sold through the Vancouver export market set the high.

West Coast:

West Coast prills remained on par with Vancouver at $80-$90/mt FOB. Molten contracts were reported at $85-$90/lt FOB for loading in the fourth quarter.

China:

China sulfur imports were steady at $105-$110/mt CFR on reports of high inventories and new restrictions on phosphate exports.

ADNOC:

The Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. (ADNOC) posted offers at $100/mt FOB Ruwais for November loading, a 9.9% decrease from $111/mt FOB in October.

Qatar:

Muntajat prices for November were reported at $98/mt FOB Ras Laffan, down from $104/mt FOB in October.

Sulfuric Acid

US Gulf:

Market players reported a standstill in 2024 negotiations, with buyers seeking a rollover from 2023 contracts. Spot tons drifted to $105-$110/mt CFR for the week, off $15/mt from $120-$125/mt CFR at last report.

Brazil

A flurry of concluded business saw Brazil prices decline to $120-$130/mt CFR, off from $128-$135/mt CFR at last report. Market players expect prices to continue drifting lower in the next few weeks.

Chile

Negotiations for 2024 annual contracts have reportedly begun to settle in the mid- to high-$120s/mt FOB, with sources noting an overall feeling of balance in the market despite some length in Asia. Negotiations remain underway but are expected to conclude at similar levels soon.

Ammonium Thiosulfate

Eastern Cornbelt:

The ammonium thiosulfate market was pegged at $245-$270/st FOB in the Eastern Cornbelt, depending on location, with the low confirmed at Terre Haute, Ind., and the high at inland terminals. The Cincinnati market remained at $255/st FOB.

Western Cornbelt:

Ammonium thiosulfate was unchanged at $225-$260/st FOB in the Western Cornbelt, with the low reported at Waterloo, Iowa.

California:

Ammonium thiosulfate pricing was unchanged at $340/st FOB in California.

Pacific Northwest:

Ammonium thiosulfate remained at $315/st FOB and $295/st DEL in Pacific Northwest.
