TSP

US Gulf:

NOLA TSP prices held steady at $460-$465/st FOB.

Eastern Cornbelt:

The TSP market continued at $535/st FOB Cincinnati and Ottawa for the latest offers.

Western Cornbelt:

TSP was steady at $500-$510/st FOB St. Louis and $510/st FOB Caruthersville, Mo.

South Central:

TSP pricing firmed to $480-$515/st FOB for new offers in the South Central region, with the high reported in Arkansas.

Brazil:

TSP import prices in Brazil held steady at $415-$420/mt CFR on thin trading activity.

Pricing remained hard to come by at Rondonopolis due to low prompt availability and the product’s poor suitability for the corn safrinha season. Producers offered TSP for corn safrinha at $510/mt FOB ex-warehouse, a decrease from the previous week’s $540-$560/FOB range. Offers for the upcoming 2023/24 summer season ran in the $530-$545/mt FOB ex-warehouse range.

SSP

Brazil:

Landed SSP pricing strengthened to $220-$230/mt CFR at Paranagua. Lower prices were available on cargoes shipping into northern ports, as well as for November delivery.

Citing minimal availability for the 2023/24 soybean crop, pricing for prompt SSP at Rondonopolis continued at $440-$450/mt FOB ex-warehouse. Offers for the 2024/25 summer season tracked in the $330-$350/mt FOB range, slightly above the prior week’s $310-$335/mt FOB.

Phosphoric Acid

Eastern Cornbelt:

August phos acid postings in the Eastern Cornbelt were quoted at $9.90/unit rail-DEL, but an increase to $10.15/unit rail-DEL was scheduled for Sept. 1.

Western Cornbelt:

The phos acid price remained at $9.90/unit rail-DEL in the Western Cornbelt for August tons. A $0.25/unit increase is slated for Sept. 1, moving the market to $10.15/unit rail-DEL in the region.

Southern Plains:

Phos acid pricing in the Southern Plains firmed to $10.15/unit rail-DEL on Sept. 1, up from the August price of $9.90/unit rail-DEL.

Ammonium Polyphosphate

Eastern Cornbelt:

10-34-0 remained at the $450/st FOB level or higher for the last confirmed fill offers in the Eastern Cornbelt.

Western Cornbelt:

10-34-0 was quoted at $450-$460/st FOB in the Western Cornbelt for the latest fill offers.

Southern Plains:

10-34-0 remained at $460/st FOB in the Southern Plains for the last confirmed business, with the 11-37-0 market quoted at the $500/st FOB level in Texas.

Muriate of Potash

US Gulf:

The NOLA potash market continued to edge higher, with new business confirmed in the $328-$335/st FOB range for September barges, up from last week’s low of $322/st FOB. October trades were reported at the $330/st FOB level during the week.

Eastern Cornbelt:

Potash was unchanged at $385-$400/st FOB in the Eastern Cornbelt, with the low reported at Cincinnati, Ottawa, and out of other Ohio and Illinois river warehouses.

Western Cornbelt:

The potash market was quoted at $370-$390/st FOB in the Western Cornbelt, with the St. Louis market reported in the $370-$380/st FOB range. Potash pricing at Caruthersville was confirmed at the $375/st FOB level during the week.

Southern Plains:

Potash was reported at $380-$390/st FOB Catoosa/Inola and $385/st FOB Houston in late August. The last postings from Intrepid FOB Carlsbad, N.M., included $445/st for 60% white granular and $453/st for 62% white standard.

“I think that fall demand will pull potash inventories down,” said one regional contact.

South Central:

Potash was pegged at $375-$390/st FOB in the South Central region, with the low confirmed at Memphis and the high out of river terminals in Kentucky.

Southeast:

Potash was up slightly at $350-$360/st FOB Wilmington, N.C., with reports of rail-DEL Canadian tons holding at the $385-$390/st level in the Southeast.

India: 

RCF will close a tender for 35,000 mt of potash on Sept. 4, with shipment required in October. The material is slated for use in RCF’s NPK producing operations. A call for 40,000 mt of MAP/DAP Lite accompanied the potash request.

Thailand:

January-July potash imports in Thailand totaled 356,000 mt, Trade Data Monitor reported, off 35% from the year-ago 551,000 mt. July imports firmed to 62,000 mt from 59,000 mt in July 2022. Canada supplied 47% of the July market, sending 29,000 mt.

Brazil:

Brazil potash import prices continued in the $350-$360/mt CFR range on limited buyer interest. Sanctioned product was reportedly offered at $330-$340/mt CFR, marking the return of discounts for sanctioned tonnage.

Rondonopolis potash prices firmed to $470-$495/mt FOB ex-warehouse, up from $470-$490/mt FOB at last report. Despite increased availability, few transactions were reported for corn safrinha during the week. Offers for the 2024/25 soybean season were referenced at $500/mt FOB ex-warehouse.

Sulfur

Tampa:

The third-quarter Tampa molten sulfur contract was valued at $55/lt CFR, down $48/lt from the second quarter.

US Gulf:

The US Gulf price was unchanged at $85-$90/mt FOB. Players reported positive price sentiment in the market, with demand from both industrial and fertilizer consumers remaining strong.

Brazil:

Brazil sulfur pricing expectations increased to the $120-$130/mt CFR range, with most of the market anticipating prices to push toward the upper end of the range in the next round of business.

Vancouver:

The Vancouver prill price was unchanged at $90-$95/mt FOB.

Alberta:

Alberta netbacks were estimated at (-)$60-$25/mt FOB, steady from one week earlier. The wide range included both molten sulfur cargoes contracted into the US market and solid tons sold through the Vancouver export market.

West Coast:

West Coast prills remained on par with Vancouver at $90-$95/mt FOB.

Contracts for molten sulfur loading in the third quarter were reported at $45-$50/lt FOB, a decrease from $98-$106/lt FOB in the second quarter.

China:

Sulfur prices in China were steady at $120-$125/mt CFR, sources said. Market players expressed concerns about ongoing economic difficulties in the region, as well as port inventories reported around 2.4 million mt.

ADNOC:

Prilled sulfur produced by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. (ADNOC) was posted at $103/mt FOB Ruwais for September, a 28.75% increase from $80/mt FOB reported in August.

Qatar:

The September Muntajat sulfur price lifted 24.4%, to $102/mt Ras Laffan from August’s $82/mt FOB posting.

Sulfuric Acid

US Gulf:

Players reported stable sulfuric acid prices during the week, with the market holding at $80-$90/mt CFR.

Brazil:

Brazil pricing rallied to $110-$120/mt CFR, a 43.75% increase from the prior $75-$85/mt CFR range. Players attributed the firming market to tighter balances in Europe and a bullish freight market.

Ammonium Thiosulfate

Eastern Cornbelt:

The ammonium thiosulfate market was unchanged at $245-$270/st FOB in the Eastern Cornbelt, with the low reported at Terre Haute, Ind., and the high out of inland terminals in Ohio. The Cincinnati market remained at the $255/st FOB level.

Western Cornbelt:

Ammonium thiosulfate remained at $225-$260/st FOB in the Western Cornbelt, with the low reported at Waterloo, Iowa.

Southern Plains:

The ammonium thiosulfate market was steady at $220-$250/st FOB in the Southern Plains, depending on location.

South Central:

Ammonium thiosulfate pricing dropped to $240-$245/st FOB Memphis in late August, down from $335-$340/st FOB at last report.

NPSZ

Cornbelt:

NPSZ pricing in the Cornbelt remained in a broad range at $660-$715/st FOB, depending on location, though sources reported limited availability. “Phosphate is probably going to be a problem” for the fall application season, commented one industry source.
